Bruno Watier is a professor at the University of Toulouse. After earning an engineering degree, he obtained his PhD in biomechanics from ENSAM Paris. He has recently undertaken extended research stays at the AIST-CNRS Joint Robotics Laboratory (JRL) in Tsukuba, Japan, and at the Université de Sherbrooke in Canada. He served as President of the French Society of Biomechanics from 2021 to 2024. His research focuses broadly on human motor performance and human–robot interaction.
The CALL project: an interdisciplinary framework for human-robot interaction
While humans demonstrate a remarkable ability to engage in fluid and safe physical collaboration, the conditions required to achieve comparable levels of performance in human–robot interaction are clearly not yet in place. In this presentation, we will explore the origins and development of the interdisciplinary CALL project, which brings together experts in biomechanics, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and robotic control to address these challenges.
